Candidate eligibility requirements can be found in the Chapter By-Laws, Article V. Briefly, a candidate must:

  • Be a PMI and PMI Rochester member in good standing
  • Be willing and able to commit to a 2-year term
  • Have been actively involved in the chapter within the last year
  • Candidates must reside within the Rochester Chapter Geographical Region at least 6 months prior to election
  • Candidate must not work for or plan to work for an ATP in any capacity

Chris Freeman

Chris Freeman is a senior transformation and project management professional with extensive experience leading multi-year corporate delivery initiatives, global cross-functional teams, and complex technology programs. His background spans manufacturing process engineering, product engineering, IT program management, and team supervision, giving him a strong technical foundation and a practical, results-driven approach to leadership.

Chris currently serves as Vice President of Finance for the PMI Rochester Chapter and is seeking to continue in that role. He also serves as an officer on the Brook-Lea Country Club Board of Directors, where he co-chairs the Greens and Grounds Committee. In addition to his board service, Chris brings deep experience managing requirements, estimates, schedules, budgets, risks, resources, and stakeholder communications across large-scale initiatives.

A PMP and Certified ScrumMaster since 2007, Chris has managed corporate portfolio projects with multi-million-dollar budgets, including international assignments, while consistently focusing on business value, process improvement, and on-time, within-budget delivery. His leadership style is collaborative and democratic, relying on subject matter experts, empowering teams with autonomy, and setting clear expectations grounded in respect, accountability, and trust.

Tracey Van Tassell

Tracey is a Sr. IT Program/Project Manager for the City of Rochester, where she leads technology initiatives and governance processes, aligning IT strategy with organizational objectives. She has established standardized project management methodologies, strengthened governance, and improved delivery consistency across complex, cross-functional initiatives.

Tracey brings over 10 years of project and program management experience, including work at URMC and Paychex. She has led a diverse portfolio of IT and business transformation initiatives, consistently delivering results through strong stakeholder alignment, process optimization, and successful system implementations.

In addition to her professional work, Tracey is an active leader in the PMI Rochester Chapter, serving as Director of Networking Events since 2022. She has led high-visibility initiatives, including the chapter’s first joint “Roc2Roc” event and the 2025 Professional Development Day. She also volunteers with Meals on Wheels and has served as a PTA President.

Tracey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and is PMP certified. She is currently pursuing her Professional MBA at the Simon Business School.
