In 2025, the Project Management Institute (PMI) Rochester Chapter proudly celebrates its 40th anniversary, marking four decades of dedication to advancing project management excellence in the Greater Rochester area. Established in 1985, the chapter has grown into a vibrant community of professionals committed to fostering growth, collaboration, and innovation across various industries, including healthcare, engineering, education, and technology. 

A Legacy of Leadership and Impact

Over the past 40 years, PMI Rochester has played a pivotal role in shaping the project management landscape in Upstate New York. The chapter's commitment to professional development is evident through its regular events, workshops, and certification programs, which have empowered countless individuals to achieve their Project Management Professional (PMP)® and Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® credentials. 

The chapter's history is rich with dedicated leaders who have steered its mission forward. Notable past presidents include Randy Bakel (1985–1987), Joe Lukas (1995–1996 & 2001–2012), and Brian Gregory (2013–2016). Each brought unique perspectives and initiatives that contributed to the chapter's sustained success.

Celebrating 40 Years of Excellence

In recognition of this significant milestone, PMI Rochester is hosting a series of events throughout 2025 to honor its history and envision the future. These celebrations aim to bring together past and present members, industry partners, and the broader community to reflect on the chapter's achievements and discuss the evolving field of project management.

One of the highlights includes the annual Professional Development Day (PDD), which offers attendees opportunities to earn Professional Development Units (PDUs), engage with expert speakers, and participate in interactive sessions focused on current trends and best practices in project management.
